“Columbus, Ohio Indie Rock”
Local Tourists: Biography
Local Tourists started in 2015, the result of a Craigslist ad posted by lead guitarist Teagan Loew. Vocalist/guitarist Ryan Lunka responded to the ad and the two began writing songs. After a few months, they met drummer Dan Schreiber, fresh off the boat from Nashville. Finally they rounded out the lineup with bassist/vocalist Brad Roll, who had played in a past project with Loew.
Since then Local Tourists has written over twenty songs and played dozens of shows in the Columbus area, including venues like Big Room Bar, Rumba Cafe, Ruby Tuesday Live, and The Tree Bar. In April 2018, they released their first studio EP titled Adrift, including popular songs like Parisitism and Tango Loco. In April 2019, they released their single Be the Machine.
Local Tourists' sound mixes modern indie rock styles of Band of Horses, Nada Surf, and Kings of Leon with the guitar-driven punchiness of a more alternative rock. They strive to mix interesting bridges and song structures, without losing the radio friendliness of catchy hooks and meaningful lyrics.
The band works to be an active part of the Columbus music scene, building community, playing with all kinds of local acts, and getting heavily involved in local groups like Guitars Not Guns, Columbus (founded by Lunka and Roll). Columbus has a great scene and Local Tourists works hard to be a positive part of it.
